Brass Etchings
During the 1970's and 80's I knew of four different companies that produced brass etchings. I got to work for two of these companies which I learned the craft of brass etching. The second of which I got to work with was the best in the business. I mostly did production work while the owner did higher quality custom work. These etchings here are some that I did in my own studio in 1983-84

Mandos parking lot
This picture was taken soon after I finished this Art Deco arrow that points to the backdoor of the restaurant. I also did some painting and staining in the interior of the restaurant. Every painter has a accident once in awhile and I happened to kick over a whole gallon of stain on the brand new carpet. Can you guess who had to Clean it up.
Royal Towers
They were painted with latex paint (deep jungle green) and a gold leaf boarder.
On the round tables we painted serial and exotic flowers with oil paint. They were finally finished with apoxy resin. The ceiling of the entire club was covered with cotton canvas stretchers.
A spaceship to hang from the ceiling
In this picture I am in the process of dry fitting the spaceship in our makeshift workspace. All the pieces are wooden patterns given to us from a local foundry. After painting they would be held together with threaded steel rods. Each pattern was first painted silver before spray painting with different colours. Finally all the patterns were coated with urethane before assemblage.Pharaoh's Discotheque

During my time working with Gilbert Konqui in the 1970's I was asked to do quite a bit of decorative works for Pharaoh's Night Club on Water St. in Gastown B.C. The front entrance was changed a few times altering the image of the club. I was also asked to do Art Deco murals and glass works for the interior of the club. All the designs were from Gilbert's drafting and thumbnail sketches, but also we worked directly from old Art Deco posters. Unfortunately I never got pictures of all the work we did there. I am also sorry that I never got pictures of work we did for The Body Shop Night Club and the Candy Store Discotheque in Vancouver as we also did a lot of work there.

The Loose Caboose discotheque

This night club at the Ritz Hotel in Vancouver was designed and built by Gilbert Konqui and Associates in 1975. It was my job to execute the painting of these murals throughout the club. There was also plenty of mirrored columns and mirrored surfaces along with plastic plants, lattice and hand made wallpapers. We did other jobs in Vancouver such as redecorating Pharaohs Discotheque, The Candy Store, The Body shop, Club 10 and The Longhorn at Whistler Mountain. We also did the Black Forest Restaurant, Mandos Restaurant , Richards on Richards and others.
